Classes at the Centro Internacional de Idiomas

NIVEL I

Beginning Level Intensive Spanish Course.

Credit: six quarter credits/four semester credits.

Course structure: Two hours of speaking and reading practice. This part of the course focuses on oral production based on easy readings and dialogs, which involve given situational vocabulary.

Material used: Booklets with grammar exercises, vocabulary lists, and readings.

Course content: Two hours of basic grammar and its applications for the beginning student. Emphasis on ser vs. estar, conjugation of regular and irregular verbs in the simple present, possessive adjectives, direct and indirect pronouns, and infinitive phrases. Level 1covers the following:

• Pronombres sujeto
• Verbos Ser y Estar
• Palabras y formas interrogativas
• Saber vs. Conocer
• Presente progresivo
• Articulo definido e indefinido
• Preposiciones DE, CON, EN
• Conjugacion de verbos en presente
• Pronombres de O.D. y O.I.
• Futuro perifrastico

Situaciones y vocabularios a trabajar:

• La escuela y las clases.
• Los colores.
• Los numeros.
• El calendario, la fecha y la hora.
• La familia.
• Caracteristicas y caulidades.
• La Casa.
• Frutas y verduras.
• El supermercado.
• Saludos, presentaciones y frases utiles.

Objetivos: Al final de este curso el estudiante sera capaz de:

• Comunicar necesidades basicas: alimentacion, compras, espacio, etc.
• Hablar de su estado de animo y del otros.
• Dar y pedir la hora.
• Expresar obligacion.
• Describir objetos cotidianos, personas y rutinas.
• Manejar situaciones en presente y futuro.
