Classes at the Centro Internacional de IdiomasNIVEL VIAdvanced Level Intensive Spanish Course. Credit: six quarter credits/four semester credits. Text Used: El Cuento Hispanoamericano, by Seymour Menton. Material used: Booklet with grammar exercises. Course content: Two hours of literature focused on major literary movements in Hispano American Literature (Romanticism, Realism, Modernism, Criollism, Cosmopolitism, and Magical Realism) Required coursework includes written analyses of six works of literature. 5 days a week for 3 weeks. Two hours of a more in-depth look at grammar and its applications for the advanced student. Emphasis on preterit vs. imperfect indicative, uses of imperfect and subjuntive por vs. para Conversation practice, newspaper readings, oral and written reports and aural comprehension exercises (language laboratory work). 5 days a week for 3 weeks.
