NCSA Valdivia, Chile - Academic Year Programs


Eligibility

  • Minimum GPA: 2.5
  • Minimum Class Standing: Sophomore
  • Language Requirement: 2 years college
  • Good academic standing
  • No current disciplinary record
  • An interview may be required

In addition to academic strength, acceptance is based on personal commitment, flexibility, and suitability for study abroad/exchange. 'Current disciplinary record' is defined as an infraction within the last 12 months.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall Semester: (August 22, 2008 - December 13, 2008)
    • Application Deadline: July 1
  • Spring Semester: (March 28, 2008 - July 19, 2008)
    • Application Deadline: January 10


Application Procedure

A complete application consists of the items in the checklist below. Please complete and submit all application materials together as a packet, using the list below as a checklist. If you are unable to open any forms on this page, you may request copies by e-mailing goabroad@cwu.edu.
    CWU Waivers: sign and date all three pages.

    Official college/university transcripts for all institutions attended. CWU Students should print out the CWU Transcript Request Form.

    Two Academic References from professors knowledgeable about your educational background and capabilities. You may substitute one professional reference if necessary.

    Language Proficiency Report (completed by most recent Spanish professor).

    Two typed essays, one in English and one in Spanish, each 1-2 spaces double-spaced: In English: Please describe the value of study abroad to you as an individual, what you hope to gain from the experience, and how study in Chile in particular will help you do so. In Spanish: Write a brief autobiographical sketch. Describe your strengths and special interests, your educational/career goals, and four learning goals you hope to accomplish while on your program abroad.

    Non-refundable CWU Application Fee:
    • CWU Students: Please pay your application fee of $50 at the Cashiers Office to subcode SA APP. The receipt should be included with your application materials.
    • Non-CWU Students: Please send a check for $50 (application fee) payable to Central Washington University along with your application materials.

References and transcripts should be submitted in sealed envelopes (exception: unofficial transcripts for faculty led programs do not need to be put in an envelope).
